Join Greater Mankato Growth and your fellow colleagues for our May Public Affairs Forum Series Luncheon featuring Dr. Steve Hine, one of Minnesota's premier experts on the state of our workforce. The ability of our region to attract and retain a talented workforce has never been greater as Greater Mankato employers, and those throughout the entire state, face a looming workforce shortage. Employers already experiencing difficulty filling open positions will see that challenge accelerate as the perfect storm of an aging workforce, a diminishing worker pool and the need to fuel anticipated growth in employment opporunties due to a growing economy impact us over the next decade.

As the Director of the Labor Market Information Office at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Dr. Hine will provide his perspective on the current demographic trends shaping our state and the impact they will have on the labor force. Dr. Hine will also offer data about our particular region (Blue Earth & Nicollet Counties) making this a must-attend event for employers trying to stay on top of a rapidly changing talent environment. There will be ample time for Q&A so you can engage on the topics that are top of mind for you.

The event will take place at South Central College in their Heritage Hall.

Lunch is served at 11:30 am and the program begins at 12:00 pm.

Speaker:

Dr. Steven C. Hine, Director, Labor Market Information Office, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development

Dr. Hine has been with the Labor Market Information Office at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development for over 18 years, and has been Research Director of the office for the past 13 years. In this capacity, he and his staff of 30 are responsible for the production, analysis and dissemination of the official employment and unemployment statistics for the State of Minnesota. Prior to joining DEED, Dr. Hine taught economics at colleges and universities in New York, Washington, Arkansas, and Minnesota.
