In September, President Trump and Congressional leaders released their "unified framework" for federal tax reform. The plan proposes sweeping changes to the tax code for both businesses and individuals. While the final outcome is not yet known, businesses and individuals should be considering appropriate actions to take now to best position themselves for changes in the tax code as many opportunities must be implemented, or planned, before tax reform becomes effective. This event will allow you to be fully informed on the latest tax reform proposals, and offer advice on what you should be doing now to plan for these reforms. The presentation will be delivered by top tax experts from Eide Bailly's National Tax Office. They will discuss:

The policy considerations driving federal tax reform
Outline and analysis of important provisions for both businesses and individuals
Potential impacts of tax reform
What businesses and individuals should be doing to best position themselves to take advantage of tax reform when/if signed into law

Joseph B. Kristan, Partner, Eide Bailly
- As a partner, Joe brings knowledge and experience to his clients with over 30 years as a tax practitioner. He works primarily with closely held businesses and serves the agriculture, distribution and manufacturing industries. An effective communicator and advisor, Joe has taught statewide tax schools for Iowa practitioners in connection with the ISU Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation and the Institute of Management Accountants.
Andrea Mouw, Principal, Eide Bailly
- Andrea has more than nine years of tax experience, including federal, state and international tax issues. Her key areas of expertise include accounting method issues such as income and expense recognition, capitalization, Section 199, and inventory issues. As a co-leader of Eide Bailly’s Repair Regulation initiative, Andrea has facilitated numerous internal and external educational sessions related to the repair regulations, as well as other issues.
Heather Thilges, Partner, Eide Bailly
- Heather has more than 15 years public accounting experience serving clients in a variety of industries. She provides tax compliance, planning and consulting services to both businesses and individuals. She assists clients with various services including new entity formations, ownerships changes, IRS and state tax representation, partnership issue support, research, multi-state taxation, budgeting and projections. She performs business valuation services for estate and gift tax purposes, litigation, purchasing and selling businesses and marital dissolution. Heather serves as the Tax Department Head for the Mankato office.
