Great River Energy is a not-for-profit electric cooperative owned by its 28 member cooperatives, including BENCO Electric. Great River Energy generates and transmits electricity for members located across the state of Minnesota from the outer-ring suburbs of the Twin Cities up to the Arrowhead region of Minnesota and down to the farming communities in the southwestern part of the state.
Great River Energy owns and maintains a resource mix that includes 11 power plants and nearly 4,800 miles of transmission lines. Great River Energy offers a diverse mix of generation resources, including coal, refuse-derived fuel, hydro, natural gas and fuel oil, as well as wind and solar generation.
